A Whale of a Sight on the First Day of Spring

Spring Spouts

The first day of spring is normally a time to expect to see new signs of plant growth or hear songs from birds and tree frogs. Around Whidbey and Camano islands, you can include gray whale sightings to that list.

Enjoy the photo slideshow above that shows two gray whales making an appearance at the entrance to Penn Cove on March 20.  These beautiful creatures come to these waters to feed on ghost shrimp, yet another reason why clean water is so vitally important to nature and humans.
