Island County, WA

The Whidbey Camano Land Trust invites Island County middle and high school students contribute to its first-ever traveling exhibit – Landkeepers: Our Historic Island Families. Help celebrate the beauty and heritage of Whidbey and Camano Islands with visual storytelling by meeting with local families and documenting their historic connections to the islands.

Over the summer, the Land Trust will match students with a local family and provide training in oral history interviewing techniques. Students will prepare quality displays for community events in August, including the Island County and Stanwood-Camano Fairs. These activities will give students experience in real-life journalism and public presentation skills, while enjoying area-wide recognition of talents and efforts. Funding is provided in part by a generous grant from Whidbey Island Bank.
