The Whidbey Camano Land Trust is holding a public meeting and workshop on Thursday, May 12 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island to hear from the public on the future of the Trillium Community Forest.  Input and feedback from the meeting will assist the Land Trust in developing a comprehensive management plan that will guide future use and actions in the Forest.

Sign-in begins at 5:45 pm, followed by a brief overview and update on the Forest, with the majority of the evening dedicated to hearing from the community. Come and have your voice be heard.  Join the group that wants to make sure the Trillium Community Forest is a place where nature and people can co-exist.

In 2010, the Whidbey Camano Land Trust raised over $4 million in private donations to purchase the forest property, including $500,000 from the Land Trust and a $300,000 loan from the Bullitt Foundation.  The funds were donated to protect nature and provide appropriate opportunities for non-motorized recreational uses.

A second public workshop will be held when the draft management plan is completed.  The Unitarian Church is located at 20103 State Route 525, 2 miles north of Freeland.
