Charles joined the Land Trust in 2026, coordinating all aspects of financial development including annual giving/membership, major gifts, planned giving and capital development programming.
Charles has 44 years of experience in fundraising – a career that his been his passion since he was a child and could see what good came of helping people to give their money, time and voice to things that inspire their own meaning-making while, at the same time, supporting and helping fund the important work of nonprofits.
In 1986 his first job was in Cap-Haitien, Haiti raising money to repopulate Haiti with pigs after the swine flu epidemic. Now in this tenth job in his eighth year on Whidbey, he returns to raising funds for land protection, wildlife and human flourishing on these cherished islands.
He and his dog “Sugar” live in a small forest, where he hosts friends, raises bees, and is a master potter of a half-century, making Mingei pottery with wild clay harvested with permission from streambeds on Whidbey and Camano Islands.
