Deer hunting is only allowed during the following specified times:
- October 17 – November 1, 2020
- November 19 – 22, 2020.
- November 25 – December 25, 2020
Hunters must adhere to all Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations. The Forest is located in Game Management Unit (GMU) 420, which is a firearm restricted area. With the exception of deer, no other animals may be hunted, trapped, harassed, or otherwise harmed in the Community Forest.
Whidbey Island’s deer population is estimated to be nearly 3,000 with the largest concentration in the central part of the island. Managing the deer population in Trillium Community Forest, the Land Trust’s largest protected property at 720 acres, benefits the overall health of the forest ecosystem, including protecting critical habitat for many bird species.
