In partnership with U.S. Navy, the Land Trust acquired a conservation easement on 28 acres within Ebey’s Reserve, permanently protecting this historic and scenic property along Penn Cove. Due to its diverse land cover types, from mature forest to native shrub hedgerows, open grassland and over a mile of Penn Cove shoreline, this property has immense value for wildlife. The varied topography and this blend of land cover types foster biodiversity and add to the overall ecological richness of the region. The property is also a crucial link to a large network of protected lands nearby, further benefiting wildlife and the broader Whidbey Island community.
