In 2021, this 21-acre property was donated in memory of Elizabeth Ruthford, who wished to see this forestland forever protected after being in her family’s ownership for over 100 years.  The Ruthford property encompasses high-quality forest, streams, wetlands and stream buffer habitat. Its protection enhances water quality and wildlife habitat movement corridors through South Whidbey while also expanding protected forested habitat in the vicinity of the Glendale Creek Watershed, helping maintain open space corridors, scenic values and ground water recharge.
