Protected in 2023, the 130-acre Sher-Footed Farm conservation easement preserves this farm for agricultural use, promoting long-term food security and ensuring its rural and scenic character and open space habitat along highway 20 outside of Oak Harbor. The farm is raising livestock and growing produce using regenerative practices that build soil health and support climate resilience. The farm’s significant wetland area is important for flood mitigation, water quality protection for downstream Swantown Lake, and wildlife habitat. The Land Trust secured farmland grant funding from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program to complete this project.
