Possession Sound Preserve has a way of wowing people. The wild and rugged site is the Land Trust’s newest nature preserve, which opened this summer.
Forever Wild properties are protected for the full benefit of nature. They are made up of habitats where wild creatures and plants can flourish without the intrusion of human activity — no excess noise, light, traffic, recreation and domestic animal predation.
2019 was a wildly successful year for local conservation: 10 properties, totaling 328 acres, were permanently protected on Whidbey and Camano islands.
The 45-acre Possession Sound Preserve is the Land Trust’s newest nature preserve. South of Clinton on Whidbey Island, it has more than a half mile of beach that will be open to the public in the future.
