Possession Sound Preserve has a way of wowing people. The wild and rugged site is the Land Trust’s newest nature preserve, which opened this summer.
Forever Wild properties are protected for the full benefit of nature. They are made up of habitats where wild creatures and plants can flourish without the intrusion of human activity — no excess noise, light, traffic, recreation and domestic animal predation.
The Land Trust plans for more than 1,300 native plants to go into the ground at the Silliman Preserve. It’s all part of the organization’s goal to enhance fish and wildlife habitat and help protect a functioning wetland system in the Maxwelton watershed.
