Through the generous donation of a conservation easement by Joe LePla and Teresea Rodriguez, 28 acres of mature native forest and stream habitat are now permanently protected. This property, located within Glendale Creek watershed, is rich with diverse topography consisting of steep ravines, wetlands and over eight hundred feet of Glendale Creek—providing excellent habitat for numerous native wildlife species.

As part of a network of protected lands within the area, this safeguarded haven enhances protection of Glendale Creek as a whole. Glendale Creek is one of Whidbey Island’s main salmon-bearing streams and contributes to the underlying drinking water aquifer that this island community is reliant on.
