The Land Trust successfully purchased these 65 acres of beautiful forestland near Smugglers Cove Road after an urgent fundraising call to the community. In addition to providing a forested haven for migratory birds and other wildlife, a seasonal stream cuts through a deep valley with skunk cabbage dotting the wet valley floor, serving as home to amphibians and other wetland-dependent species. Keeping this property as forested habitat maintains a vital habitat corridor open for wildlife movement between protected lands within the Land Trust’s Lagoon Point Community Forest and South Whidbey State Park.
