Join the Fun!

Work party season kicks off again in March! Here are a few great reasons to get involved.

Volunteers Are the Heart of the Land Trust

The Land Trust was founded in 1984 by a dedicated group of volunteers. In fact, staff members didn’t enter the picture until 2003. While the Land Trust staff love their work and are deeply committed to their jobs, volunteers remain an essential part of everyday success.

Your Help is Needed

With half a dozen monthly outreach events, 25 miles of trails to maintain, and over 680 aces of restoration—not to mention all the paperwork that goes with that—it takes a community effort to keep up and to ensure Land Trust preserves are kept healthy, thriving and enjoyable!

Looking for Something New?

Land Trust volunteer opportunities stretch across both Whidbey and Camano Islands. Outreach volunteers get opportunities to present, engage with the community and represent the Land Trust at various events. Work parties provide hands-on opportunities to learn new skills, connect with special places and people, and enjoy a well-earned snack break. Plus, with new land protected each year, there’s always somewhere new to explore!

Learn New Skills

Don’t know much about forests or have a clue what a hori hori is? Wondering how to maintain a trail or restore a preserve? Volunteer with us and learn how to assist with nature tours, remove invasive weeds, restore habitats and more!

Your Time Has an Impact

In addition to your invaluable help, volunteer hours help the Land Trust secure grants for protection and restoration! The Nonprofit Leadership Center estimates that every volunteer hour is worth $33.94 an hour in grant funding. That means your time doesn’t just make a difference in the field—it also helps secure vital resources for future conservation efforts.

Earn Hours and Swag

Need volunteer hours for school? We can sign off on that. Enjoy swag? Volunteer with us three times and receive your first piece of Land Trust gear.

Leave a Lasting Legacy

Every time you volunteer, you create something meaningful. A trail that residents and visitors will enjoy forever, a restored habitat where wildlife will thrive, even plant a tree that will grow for centuries. Your efforts leave a legacy that will benefit generations to come.

Join us this year for a work party or find another way to get involved. However you choose to help, know that your time and dedication make a real difference!
